About Our Organization

Nashville CARES is Tennessee's largest HIV/AIDS services organization. Each year, CARES educates 35,000 adults and youth to prevent new HIV infections, provides 16,000 HIV tests, and offers comprehensive support to 3,000 men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. All services are available without charge throughout 17 Middle Tennessee counties. Last year, Nashville CARES:

Provided 103,800 meals to 1,450 people with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA)
Helped 1,300 clients find housing and address housing issues
Paid $470,000 in mortgage, rent and utility bills
Distributed 5,500 bus passes and gas vouchers to 975 PLWHA
Offered 1,950 hours of individual and group counseling and addiction therapy
Provided 760 hours of CARE Team help with household chores
Educated 10,800 women to protect their health
Distributed 204,000 pieces of direct prevention materials
Helped pay for medicine and medical care for 3,970 PLWHA
Tested 15,600 individuals for HIV and linked the 99 people who tested positive to care and support
